The Tasmanian Hospitality Association, with the support of the Tasmanian Government, has launched a new media campaign urging the public to ‘Play it Safe’ while enjoying the state’s hospitality venues.

Dave chats with THA CEO Steve Old about The THA ‘Play it COVID-Safe’ , social media and in-venue campaign encourages patrons to respect hospitality staff, follow their directions and embrace the ‘new normal’ at venues.

Staff abuse is a rare but still apparent in some venues and there is no place for it in any industry. Hospitality staff have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through industry shutdowns and enforcing significant restrictions. As restrictions ease the THA and Tasmanian Government are urging everyone to remain vigilant and keep doing the small things that keep us all safe.

Registering details for contact tracing, using hand sanitiser and social distancing are simple and necessary ways patrons can ‘Play it COVID-safe’ to ensure everyone can continue to enjoy the good times and the wonderful hospitality experiences we’ve all missed.

THA CEO Steve Old says “it is easy to become complacent when we’re out and about enjoying ourselves. I’ve done it myself, walking into a venue and forgetting to use the sanitiser. That’s why it’s important for us to do our best to make COVID-safe behaviours our new normal and to follow and respect staff directions. We hope this campaign serves as a constant reminder of the actions we must still take to protect ourselves and each other”.
