What made you want to volunteer at ultra106five?
I had a previous life in commercial radio and after many years of not even listening to the radio, my wife started tuning into Christian radio in the car. I’d sometimes flick it to a commercial station, but quickly turned it back when I realised to what depths it had sunk since I was last involved. Ultra106five do such an amazing job, particularly given the technology and budgetary constraints within which they operate. I wanted the opportunity to give, without any wish to receive anything in return.
What is your favourite music?
I have a long-term love of old school hip hop – think Grandmaster Flash and Run-DMC. I was also a fan of New Order, Kraftwerk, and Hoodoo Gurus – at some point I’ve seen them all in concert. Some other favourites were Midnight Oil at Hobart City Hall and Leonard Cohen at Melbourne Park.
What is your favourite bible verse?
Dad once gave me a Bible and wrote in the cover 2 Timothy 2:7 (NKJV):
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
What is your favourite food?
Self-saucing chocolate pudding…and my grandmother was a master of the butter chocolate cake. My wife will take a full day constructing an awesome, authentic Sicilian lasagne (correction, a day and half).
