The Big J chats with the Salvos John Mark Sneed who previews the MRA Toy Run in Hobart this Saturday Dec 1
The annual MRA Toy Run organised by the Southern Motorcycle Riders Association
(MRA South) is on Saturday 1st December 2018.
That unique roar of thousands of motorcycles will be
heard on the Brooker Highway heading to Parliament House, arriving around 2.45pm.
From all over the state, the largest annual gathering of motorcycle riders in Tasmania will first converge on
the Derwent Entertainment Centre in readiness for the event. They then depart at 2.30pm heading for
Parliament House lawns where The Salvation Army staff and volunteers will be waiting to receive the gifts,
toys, food and donations that the riders generously carry with them.
President of the MRA South, Peter Dixon reminds all riders that “the safety of our riders and spectators is
absolutely paramount,” Everyone wishing to take part must remember that all vehicles must be registered
Roads from the DEC to Salamanca will be closed to public traffic from 2:00pm-4:00pm while the motorcycle
convoy is moving. We aim to close the Waterfront area from 2:30pm until 4:00pm (reopening earlier than
4pm if all the Toy Run participants have arrived). No vehicle access to Davey Street will be available during
that time, so finding alternate parking if you need to leave/enter the area during that time will be required.
Disruption to traffic will occur from 2:00pm-4:00pm on these roads on the waterfront:
● Morrison St: Road Closure
● Brooke St: Road Closure
● Castray Esplanade: Road Closure
● Murray St (from Davey to Morrison): Road Closure
● Elizabeth St (from Davey to Morrison): Road Closure
● Davey St: Disruptions to traffic in Left Hand Lanes
● Davey St: No access to Evans St or Franklin Wharf approx. 2.30pm – 4:00pm
