Even before the Commonwealth Games Sam Walker has set a state and national record after being the youngest member  named in the Australian track and field team for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Sam a para-athlete in the (T38) 100m is aged just 15 years and 166 days when he begins competition.

After sprinter Jack Hale’s disappointment in the Australian Athletics Championships 100m final, where a hamstring strain cost him any chance of individual selection, he has been picked in the 4x100m relay team.

Huw Peacock has been ­selected for his second ­Commonwealth Games in the hammer throw, joining his brother Hamish, is also a favourite in the Javelin along with women’s hammer thrower with Danielle McConnell.
