In a huge boost for Tasmanian performers, the Taste of Summer has announced it will be a showcase for 200 of the State’s best artists.
Taste Chair, Jarrod Nation, tells Dave it’s a part of a plan to support as many locals from around Tasmania as possible.“We said we wanted this year’s event to be the most Tasmanian Taste ever and we meant it,” Mr Nation said.
“We’re putting our money where our mouth is and we’re currently working through a plan to provide over 100 time slots for 80 acts which means around 200 Tasmanians will be supported. Our plan is to showcase more Tasmanian talent than at any time in the event’s history.
“COVID has had a massive impact on many Tasmanians. We know the live event industry in particular has been belted by COVID and we are delighted to be able to help the local industry.
“We can also announce today that local business, Island Entertainment, has been engaged to work with us to book the artists and prepare what will be the most exciting program of performers ever.
“We will have more to say when we reveal the final line up, but it’s fair to say there will be a real focus on making sure there is something for everyone.”
