New research reveals eight in ten (89%) Australians are ‘over this year’ and ready for the summer break, however, two in five (41%) won’t be able to switch off as their home has turned into their home office.
After a challenging two years -lled with constant change, lockdowns, restrictions and o.ce closures, there has been very little di/erentiation between work and home life, with the line between both worlds becoming blurred. When thinking about the last 12 months,
nearly half (43%) of Aussies described the year as a ‘rollercoaster’, with a third (32%) saying the year has been taxing on their mental health.
Despite the desire to take a break over the summer holidays, seven in ten (71%) Australians openly admit they are not making the conscious
effort to pack down their desks, with two thirds (61%) not turning off their notifications – making it near impossible to properly switch off!
Whether Aussies have been working from their kitchen bench, dining table, bedroom or study, there are simple changes that can be made to
reinvigorate their spaces ahead of the New Year. Amidst the celebrations with family and friends, this is also a great time to re:ect on what
did and didn’t work and look at small ways to improve this, such as decluttering old -les, considering new storage solutions and even
returning the room to its original intention.
Aussies should use the summer break as a time to recharge and create mentally healthy workspaces for the new year. Allianz Australia is
encouraging Aussies to take advantage of the end of year break as it marks a moment to reset, recover and restore some balance, and a
great way of doing this is by turning your home office back into your home.
