Cancer Council Tasmania today encouraged all Tasmanians to become involved in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.

Cancer Council Tasmania CEO Penny Egan has told Dave that it’s not too late for hosts to sign up to host.

“Tasmanians can also donate what they – or their workplaces – spend on their morning tea or coffee break” Mrs Egan said.

“Cancer Council Tasmania, like so many other charities and not-for-profit organisations, has been severely affected by COVID-19.

“But every day, more than 9 Tasmanians are diagnosed with cancer.

“People affected by cancer need Tasmanians’ support, now more than ever.

“Show them you’re behind them in this uncertain time, by donating the money you’d spend on your morning coffee, or round of coffees.”

Mrs Egan said all funds raised through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea stay in Tasmania to fund support, prevention and research programs.

The website for donation is:

  • Supporters can donate what you would normally spend on your morning coffee: $5
  • Donate a cuppa for you and a colleague: $10 or
  • Donate a week’s worth of coffees: $25
