International Day for People with a Disability.

On todays International Day for People with a Disability Dave chats with Dr. Louise Gosbell, principal of Mary Andrews College .

They discuss issues related to disability and inclusion, especially in relation to church communities..

In Australia, over four million people live with some form of disability. A further 2.65 million Australians provide unpaid care to a family member with disability or ageing family members. In addition, the average Australian will spend almost 20 years of his or her life with some form of disability, whether that is a physical disability, a mental health condition, or the loss of sensory functioning in advanced years. These statistics indicate that disability is not only common but an inevitable part of the present world. And yet, many church leaders feel under-equipped to help include and care for people living with disability in their church communities.
