AFL Tasmania Umpire Development Manager Sam Bridges joins Dave to discuss the opportunity provided to Budding future football umpires to learn from the best Thursday at North Hobart Oval with an Umpiring Come & Try session.

The session, was run by a range of mentors including AFL Life Members Ray Chamberlain and Simon Meredith, who  provided attendees with an educational insight into umpiring across all levels and will be their first step towards becoming a Field, Boundary or Goal umpire.

Chamberlain and Meredith have both officiated in over 300 AFL matches as Field Umpires, with Chamberlain taking to the field for the 2010 (including the replay) and 2019 Grand Finals and Meredith in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

The session, was available to anyone aged 12 or over is also aimed to attract current players to umpiring, with individuals able to earn money umpiring one day and still be able to play across the same weekend.
