Bags of Love offered to Tasmania’s needy Bags of Love offered to Tasmania’s needy

Individuals, Community Groups, Schools & Businesses across Tasmania are encouraged to join a

program by the Tasmanian Salvation Army, providing simple packages of food for the state’s

most in need this Christmas.

‘Bags of Love’ – similar to a recyclable supermarket bag – are being distributed to offices and

individuals around the state where staff are encouraged to fill them with non-perishable items

like canned and jarred goods, cereals, long-life milk and biscuits. Salvation Army workers will

then collect the bags and re-distribute them.

Mark Foyle Divisional Public Relations Secretary of the Salvation Army Tasmania Division, says

the program is a local initiative designed as a simple way to cope with the increasing demand at

Christmas time.

Salvation Army staff conduct interviews with people seeking assistance from the organisation

each Christmas in order to determine their areas of need.
